Typical Teacher Web Site Content
Some examples of information included on great teacher web sites are:
- Teacher contact information
- Homework, reading lists, flash cards
-- If parents are away from home and have some downtime, they can review a reading list or spelling words from their smart phone. These sites are smart phone-friendly providing easy access away from their computers
- Class schedules
- A single calendar* that provides the district, school, PTA, and class/grade events all in one place. This is invaluable. Different events are typically advertised in different places. I wanted a single place to look for all the various events for my kids. It didn't exist, so I created it. I seek out all the different events and activities posted on individual sites. I also use school and class flyers and update the calendars on a regular basis. Any time something is announced I add it to the calendar.
- Links to useful district, school, and educational web sites
- News Flashes on the front page to point out upcoming events, requests for volunteers, changes in school events, and any other important information
- Curriculum-specific information - math, science, social studies, writing, field trips, etc. Suggestions for how to improve knowledge and performance.
- Newsletters
- Photos
- Videos
- Audio
- Blogs
- More
*If you don't opt for the monthly maintenance, the calendar comes with a monthly fee of $10 since it is constantly being updated to ensure the latest information is available to parents. See pricing for more information.
